How to grow jalapenos without burning

Hand holding jalapeno peppers fresh from the garden

Whenever I use jalapeños or any other hot chili, I always use the same simple seeding technique that ensures my hands and eyes don't get burned. Try this method and trust me, you will never sow hot peppers any other way.

How to grow jalapeños

  1. Flatten a plastic bag on the counter next to a cutting board. Place the jalapeño on the cutting board and cut the stem, then cut it in half lengthwise.
  2. Place the jalapeño half in the center of the plastic bag. Fold the plastic to cover the jalapeño pepper.
  3. Being careful not to cut the plastic with your fingernail, gently scrape the seeds off the plastic.
  4. Repeat with the remaining half and prepare the jalapeño according to your recipe.
