Dishes like stuffing, French toast, and bread pudding can be inexpensive ways to give yesterday's bread a second life, but that doesn't mean there is always stale bread under your hand. Instead of buying a loaf of bread just to wait another day before getting your carb fix, try this simple trick for near-instant stale bread:
How to dry bread
- Preheat oven to 350 ° F.
- Cut the bread into the size specified by the recipe. If your recipe doesn't call for crust, remove them.
- Arrange the slices or cubes in a single layer on a half plate. Do not season or coat the bread with oil.
- Bake for about 15 minutes or until the bread is toasted and dry, but not golden brown.
- Use dry bread in your recipe.
